EVENT DESCRIPTION
As a way to encourage students to read at home, a monthly “Reading for Relaxation” contest is held. Elementary teachers should ask parents to help fill out reading logs with information on the books read at home. Children who read a set number of pages per month win a book. Each teacher must keep track of the pages that are being read in her class and complete the online reading log found in the EAS Portfolio by the 30th of the month. Elementary students also have “Reading Expeditions”; the school librarian and teachers should encourage and help students fill them along with the reading logs.
